HIP HOP!! With the recent signing of Jay Electronica to Roc Nation, a lot of labels have been trying to structure their lineups. Let's think about this for a while. Jay Electronica was running around with P. Diddy as the ghost of Christopher Wallace. Jay Z peeped game and it seemed, in the media's eyes, that he just came with one big swoop and got Jay to sign with it. Now on Roc Nation you got two outstanding lyricists with J. Cole and Jay Electronica. Well I decided that I go through the different labels, Roc Nation, GOOD Music, and Young Money/Cash Money, to ask the question, who would you sign with? Let's start it up!!

Roc Nation is an American management, music publishing and entertainment company founded by Shawn "Jay-Z" Carter. Here are the artists that are signed to Roc Nation as follows:Jay-Z, J. Cole, Jay Electronica, Willow Smith, Rita Ora, Bridget Kelly, Alexis Jordan, Hugo, Range, and Ray Starr. Not only do they have signed artists but they also manage artists such as Wale, Rihanna, and Mark Ronson. And I just learned that they have songwriters as well. Bruno Mars is managed under Roc Nation so when you think about where Roc Nation has a presence, it's practically everywhere. But what about these artists themselves. Jay Z signed himself and is the greatest rapper alive so that's cool. The first artist signed, J. Cole, has seen much success with features on different albums such as Reflection Eternal, Wale, Jay Z, and more. Bridget Kelly was a great substitute for Alicia Keys on Jay Z's tours. She sang Alicia's parts in Empire State Of Mind. We all already know about Willow Smith and how she whips her hair. I just wonder will we see more of her but it's okay if we don't because she's young as shit. She has a lot of time to grow into her own. Some of the other artists you can youtube like I did when I didn't know who Hugo was. Appealing to a different kind of audience but it's about spreading your talents everywhere. Look at Rihanna. She went from Pon De Replay to some really popish kind of stuff.

G.O.O.D. Music is a record label founded by music producer and artist Kanye West. "G.O.O.D." is an acronym for "Getting Out Our Dreams". The first people to sign on this label were John Legend and Common. Let's take a look at our artists on this label: * Kanye West, John Legend, Common, Consequence, Kid Cudi, Big Sean, Pusha T, Mr Hudson, Mos Def, Cy Hi da Prynce , Tony Williams (The World Famous), Fonzworth Bentley, and Malik Yusef. Now I don't really know about Mos Def being signed to this label because it hasn't really been confirmed but my goodness. We've already seen albums from Common, John legend, and Kid Cudi. Pusha T has already seen success with his brother on the Clipse and he's been doing fine making his transition to GOOD Music as a solo artist. Although Kid Cudi is crazy he still has some kind of freedom on this label to do as he pleases in the public eye. That doesn't seem too far from the kind of attitude that Kanye has when he's in the public eye. They both don't give a fuck. Mr. Hudson, who has a different kind of appeal and audience found success with his album as well. He even got the chance to feature on Jay Z's album so the connections must be in his favor. You take a look at Roc Nation and GOOD Music and you see two artists who any rapper/singer would love to work with. Big Sean and Cy Hi Da Prynce are paving their way with their lyrics and bodying tracks so we'll see if they'll be able to create some albums within the year or two after Kanye releases his album. A lot of freedom and a carefree environment on this label with a lot of other great artists to learn from. Veterans like Common, John Legend, and Mos Def. Not too bad at all.

Young Money Entertainment is an American record label and group founded in 2003 by Lil Wayne. The artists on this label are as follows: Lil Wayne, Drake, Mack Maine, Nicki Minaj, Tyga, Gudda Gudda, Jae Millz, Lil Chuckee, Lil Twist, Shanell, T-Streets, Short Dawg, and Cory Gunz. Hmmm. Let's take a look at their starting line up which includes Lil Wayne, Drake, Nicki, Tyga and a wild card. Lil Wayne is done with his sentence but who knows when he'll end up being in there again for fucking up. But fans are loyal and want to stick by his side. Hip Hop fans have grown up and have called for more sound lyrics and not just the type of nonsense that Wayne would spit. If he continues on that path he may see a decline in listeners and buyers. Mr. Drake has the industry going nuts. He has the world in his hands and is literally keeping Young Money afloat. We won't know what Nicki Minaj brings until we see sales but she is holding her own with a male dominated industry. Her album is not the Hip Hop/Rap that we would expect but females buy albums and why wouldn't they buy one of their own. She's crazy and calls her fans barbies but she's going to see a lot of success soon. The rest of Young Money are weed carriers and fillers. Tyga has been making some noise but with Wayne back I don't think we'll see that much of him. The rest of them I could care less about until they prove that they are worth a listen. I haven't seen it from them yet.
So there you have it. Who would you sign with?! Young Money, GOOD Music, or Roc Nation? Better yet, if there was a compilation album to come out who would you be more excited to listen to? Comment below!!
