For some odd reason I always thought I had shared this story already…But now I remember that I’ve had talks here and there about the reason why I blog and how everything came to be over here at Internet Goon. Well ladies and gentlemen, I share my story with yall.
So the year is 2007-8 and my best friend Modi has started his blog, http://dctobc.com and to be quite honest with you and him, I didn’t give a damn about it. He started a radio show at Boston College along with my boy Quinn and I showed my support when I could being the Voice Of The Streets. Sometimes I didn’t listen because I wanted to hear my music in my own damn room and not their voices or crazy selections of songs. No hate, just that’s what it was. Things moved to the bloggersphere and Modi hustled his ass off to get things off over there. I wasn’t a big supporter at first and didn’t have it bookmarked because I didn’t know if he was serious in keeping it updated and shit like that..Well something happened, he bookmarked it himself on my computer and I began liking it. Cool stuff was on there…And I always on there commenting, sharing funny videos with him via AIM and just giving him stuff to look at. That’s how it always was. Well on June 23rd 2008, I sent Modi some kind of video, which we do often, and he said “Dude you should just start a blog, you’re like an internet goon.” I was skeptical at first..I mean he had it laid out for me…the name and I would provide my own content…I left the convo, thought about it some more, asked some friends if I started a blog would they peep it and they said yes. Ideas began going everywhere and on June 24th 2008 Internet Goon was born.
The first article I wrote was about friends…I won’t link you to that because there is a menu option up where you can peep all my articles…I had a passion for making people laugh, smile, and music. I began writing articles like crazy…I didn’t know people were listening but when I got some comments (Which have been lacking by the way) I always felt great that I made people want to comment and share their feelings. I always respected other music blogs for what they did at the simple level of supplying music to their audience. Music blogs that I still have bookmarked and go to every single day. But some of their content wasn’t personal..Yeah I could write a comment about a specific song but I didn’t really get to know the personality behind it. I vowed to never be like that..Not to knock them but I didn’t want there to be a “Okay I come here for music and that’s it” I mean, when I first started showcasing music it was through Youtube, then putting songs in a media player I had (That process took so fucking long) I only put up songs that I liked and felt other people would like. But yeah, back to the articles..I wrote an article entitled “I Keep That White Girl” and then shit went crazy…best comment section I’ve had on the blog. So many different people were commenting, things got heated, it was cool to see that I really had an audience. Sometimes I go to that article and look at what those people wrote, especially the last comment in which homeboy shut the shit down.
I became passionate about saying outlandish shit on here that people thought about but didn’t want to share. I mean, I say a lot of things that people would want to say but have no medium to share and I looked to convey that with each of my articles. Also I kept it really REAL. No faking over here. So if I could keep doing that on a consistent basis then I was all for it.
Let’s switch to my passion of music. I was introduced to all kinds of music when I was younger. My sister had cassette tapes (Remember those things?) of rappers and singers, my mother was a fan a lite FM in NYC, and my father had all kinds of music coming out (Mostly Haitian music on those Sunday mornings) but my father was the first to introduce me to Wyclef (Figures) As this passion grew I also got lucky…I went to Yankee Stadium when I was in middle school for having perfect attendance and someone left a bag behind..Inside this bag were rap CD’s. (As well as cigarettes that I threw in the trash) DMX, Nas, and more. I remember seeing the cover of “Flesh Of My Flesh, Blood Of My Blood” and thinking DMX was crazy (-_-) but that album was hot. Nas’s “I Am” was on repeat forever. So many classic records on there (Big Things was my favorite) I knew I had to get more and more music and with Lite FM playing in the car I was introduced to class stuff, different genres and all that. I even got to listening to country music when I was in boarding school.
So my goal was to share my music knowledge (Which is forever expanding) with you all. I want to share things I like and not cheat you of putting something on here just because it has Lil Wayne on it. I don’t care for hits, I don’t care for ads, I don’t care about any of those things. (Well maybe the hits just so that I know people are actually coming here..haha)
I love blogging. I love music. I love writing articles. Yes it gets tiring sometimes and I want to stop and give up but something or someone always enlightens me and pushes me further from the edge. I even looked to blogging when I graduated college and had no job for those 6 months. It was a rough time and I never let people know but blogging helped..comments helped..This was one of my hobbies I stayed with in order for me to stay sane. It was kind of therapeutic (I definitely spelled that word wrong the first time, thanks spell checker)
With blogging I have had the opportunity to listen to so many artists and I respect them for doing their work. I appreciate when people let me know that a certain post made them laugh or they talk about a song or even send something my way because they know I’ll like it.
So in conclusion I blog because it makes me happy, I want to make you happy by all the content that’s on here. Okay..maybe they’ll be a part 2 to this because I’m sure I missed out on some stuff. Thanks for reading. I’ll leave you with one of my favorite videos..WOW!!!!!!!!!!
And here is a nice song that ties with the article I guess:
