The Washington Wizards got a measure of closure Wednesday with the season-ending suspensions of guards Gilbert Arenas and Javaris Crittenton, but more unrest could be ahead.
Washington Capitals owner Ted Leonsis, the presumed next owner of the Wizards to succeed the late Abe Pollin, might not be in line to add to his NHL club, The Washington Post reported.
The holding company Pollin founded sent a letter to employees Tuesday saying Leonsis does not have the exclusive right to buy the Wizards, The Post said, but does have right of first refusal to match any offer. The sides ended talks last week without a deal.
•NBA Commissioner David Stern wasn't pleased with Arenas' behavior after the gun incident in the locker room. But he said he indefinitely suspended Arenas on Jan. 6 because "we also try to protect (players) from doing things that are foolish and damaging to themselves, particularly, but also to the league. And I felt that Gilbert was in the process of doing that and it was incumbent upon me to stop it."
