First off let me say that I know yall muthafuckas been waiting for an article...I even hear yall saying "iGoon only write them articles for Dr. Jay's now..fuck him" Well if you feel that way then fuck you too...As long as this blog lives I will never, EVER, stop writing articles here..And the reason for that is because I can really be myself here...I've already cursed 3 times so I feel right at home...So you see the title, you see the images..Let me talk my shit!
Okay..If you've been on another fucking planet let me fill you in...No Homo is the phrase that every ignorant muthafucka uses so that one doesn't have to question their sexuality...One of the definitions that the credible Urban Dictionary gave us (peep the sarcasm please) was "Phrase used after one inadvertently says something that sounds gay" and "i kinda want you to notice the gayness of something I've just said that would have otherwise gone completely unnoticed" And yes if you look back up to that paragraph I might have called you ignorant..Oh well...I was one of those ignorant bums until I realized that the term No Homo is so disgracing, derogatory, and immature. Just remember that whenever you're using that phrase you are offending a gay person. Every single time..Oh you don't care?
Hmmm..Well the phrase was coined by the Dipset rappers Juelz Santana and Cameron Giles (No homo but we cocking them...Suck a dick no homo) and it's been everyone's catch phrase in hip hop...It became the "hip" thing to say...I hang around a lot of black folks so I'm sure that a lot of your black friends are using it too..And I'm pretty sure white people or whatever color is out there is aware of this phrase. I hear it from these hip hoppers and I think to myself "Well what if it wasn't homo? What if it was another term?" And for the impact factor I'm going to use black folks..example...
Example 1: I go to shake a white dude's hand...I come in with the fist bump, he comes in with the high five..He chooses the fist bump and says "No negro"
Example 2: A white dude dunks the ball and runs back on defense "No negro"
Example 3: Damn..this chicken and watermelon is slamming! No negro tho!
Now imagine hearing that day in and day out...I'm one hundred percent sure that No Negro would offend everyone who heard that...And if it offends you then I'm sure now you will understand why people have a problem with no homo like I do..And don't use that excuse "Oh we just say it with friends and stuff and they know what we're talking about" Hmm..I'm sure that's how nigger came to be...White folks were just chillin on the plantation and then started coining the phrase...Hey Nigger this, Her Nigger that...Yucky right? (iGoon history course)
Now what about the other word? Yeah pause...Now..I relate that word as if someone were saying "Chillllllllll" Ya dig? But I guess it has the same meanings except pause can be used more in a broad sense..Some chicks come in the room asking for liquor? Pause. Some person is yelling at you? Pause...And the more popular usage, Yall niggas like dicks? Pause (If you know who said that I'll give you a kiss on the forehead...I guess that's a pause for the dudes right?) But simply put, pause is just socially acceptable (as of now) You're not really putting gays down in a direct way..But after writing this paragraph I realized that it has the same definitions and meanings as No homo...It's just discreet and doesn't do a lot of damage..It's like white people saying nigga within their own family...
I just think, in Hip Hop especially, that it's overdoing the whole image against gays...Hip Hop hasn't matured yet to accept gay rappers and I don't think it ever will but when you bring back a phrase you're just overdoing it....Pause works now for me since I use it for different stuff but I'm sure other people don't...What are we to do? Is pause a better word to use? Is it still offensive to gay people if I say pause? Will no homo die down? Talk to me, leave some comments cause I want to hear your take on it...It's discussion time!
