For those who still can’t grasp the concept of white privilege, or who are constantly looking for some easy-to-understand examples of it, perhaps this list will help.

White privilege is when you can get pregnant at seventeen like Bristol Palin and everyone is quick to insist that your life and that of your family is a personal matter, and that no one has a right to judge you or your parents, because “every family has challenges,” even as black and Latino families with similar “challenges” are regularly typified as irresponsible, pathological and arbiters of social decay.

White privilege is when you can call yourself a “fuckin’ redneck,” like Bristol Palin’s boyfriend does, and talk about how if anyone messes with you, you'll “kick their fuckin' ass,” and talk about how you like to “shoot shit” for fun, and still be viewed as a responsible, all-American boy (and a great son-in-law to be) rather than a thug.

White privilege is when you can attend four different colleges in six years like Sarah Palin did (one of which you basically failed out of, then returned to after making up some coursework at a community college), and no one questions your intelligence or commitment to achievement, whereas a person of color who did this would be viewed as unfit for college, and probably someone who only got in in the first place because of affirmative action.

White privilege is when you can claim that being mayor of a town smaller than most medium-sized colleges, and then Governor of a state with about the same number of people as the lower fifth of the island of Manhattan, makes you ready to potentially be president, and people don’t all piss on themselves with laughter, while being a black U.S. Senator, two-term state Senator, and constitutional law scholar, means you’re “untested.”


White privilege is being able to say that you support the words “under God” in the pledge of allegiance because “if it was good enough for the founding fathers, it’s good enough for me,” and not be immediately disqualified from holding office--since, after all, the pledge was written in the late 1800s and the “under God” part wasn’t added until the 1950s--while believing that reading accused criminals and terrorists their rights (because, ya know, the Constitution, which you used to teach at a prestigious law school requires it), is a dangerous and silly idea only supported by mushy liberals.


White privilege is being able to be a gun enthusiast and not make people immediately scared of you.


White privilege is being able to have a husband who was a member of an extremist political party that wants your state to secede from the Union, and whose motto was “Alaska first,” and no one questions your patriotism or that of your family, while if you're black and your spouse merely fails to come to a 9/11 memorial so she can be home with her kids on the first day of school, people immediately think she’s being disrespectful.


White privilege is being able to make fun of community organizers and the work they do--like, among other things, fight for the right of women to vote, or for civil rights, or the 8-hour workday, or an end to child labor--and people think you’re being pithy and tough, but if you merely question the experience of a small town mayor and 18-month governor with no foreign policy expertise beyond a class she took in college--you’re somehow being mean, or even sexist.


White privilege is being able to convince white women who don’t even agree with you on any substantive issue to vote for you and your running mate anyway, because all of a sudden your presence on the ticket has inspired confidence in these same white women, and made them give your party a “second look.”


White privilege is being able to fire people who didn’t support your political campaigns and not be accused of abusing your power or being a typical politician who engages in favoritism, while being black and merely knowing some folks from the old-line political machines in Chicago means you must be corrupt.


White privilege is being able to attend churches over the years whose pastors say that people who voted for John Kerry or merely criticize George W. Bush are going to hell, and that the U.S. is an explicitly Christian nation and the job of Christians is to bring Christian theological principles into government, and who bring in speakers who say the conflict in the Middle East is God’s punishment on Jews for rejecting Jesus, and everyone can still think you’re just a good church-going Christian, but if you’re black and friends with a black pastor who has noted (as have Colin Powell and the U.S. Department of Defense) that terrorist attacks are often the result of U.S. foreign policy and who talks about the history of racism and its effect on black people, you’re an extremist who probably hates America.


White privilege is not knowing what the Bush Doctrine is when asked by a reporter, and then people get angry at the reporter for asking you such a “trick question,” while being black and merely refusing to give one-word answers to the queries of Bill O’Reilly means you’re dodging the question, or trying to seem overly intellectual and nuanced.


White privilege is being able to claim your experience as a POW has anything at all to do with your fitness for president, while being black and experiencing racism is, as Sarah Palin has referred to it a “light” burden.


And finally, white privilege is the only thing that could possibly allow someone to become president when he has voted with George W. Bush 90 percent of the time, even as unemployment is skyrocketing, people are losing their homes, inflation is rising, and the U.S. is increasingly isolated from world opinion, just because white voters aren’t sure about that whole “change” thing. Ya know, it’s just too vague and ill-defined, unlike, say, four more years of the same, which is very concrete and certain…


White privilege is, in short, the problem.

So I saw this article on CNN...click here for it...But on the real what the hell is going on..My roomate was talking about it yesterday how Merril Lynch was being bought out by Bank of America and Lehman Brothers was filing for bankruptcy...WHAT?!! WOW!!. HOW?!! WHY?!! I remember just a few years ago that's where eveyone wanted to have internships and people thought that they would have jobs set when they graduated...But now look at what's happening...Market sucks..But what do we blame it on? People say it's oil, people say it's debt...I want the top guy handling all of this to come sit down with the Goon and explain to me how things began to fall since 2000...Shit ain't making any sense to me...I'm afraid for what the future has in store for me and my colleagues...Will I have a job? Will I be safe?

Other important matters in the article were the AIG sell off and restructuring plan...and the 10 bank emergency plan that would loosen restrictions on Bank lending policies...Basically the bigger banks like Morgan Stanley, CitiGroup, Goldman Sachs, and others have created a fund for these troubled firms. (yea I summarized it, or basically just copied it) But damn...this is really scary...Maybe I should start practicing on my jumpshot...

OH BOY I’M GOING IN!! I haven’t said that in a while..and usually when I do say that it means that a good article is about to be read from yall…so stop what you’re doing, gather your friends, designate a speaker and let’s dive into it…

So as you can see by the title of the article it says seventeen…I’m not talking about the magazine (even though I know a model for that magazine…wassup Nicole!!) But clearly I’m talking the age. I really don’t care for the males at that age…It’s not something I care for or want to talk about…But I do care to talk about GIRLS BEING 17, SEX/HOOKUPS, AND 21 YEAR OLD MALES…OH BOY!!!! I feel like I’m going to start saying shit right now and people will either hate it or love it (G-Unit) but that’s why I write…That’s my wack (do yall use whack or wack?) ass intro so lets get it…

I am a 21 year old black male…I’m cute (Please co-sign out there for me) and I get the job done...whatever that means…When I turned 21 in April 2008, one of the first things I did was buy liquor, but on top of that I also went on the internet and looked up these laws on statutory rape…I did this so that I was fully aware of all these laws and shit…Maybe I should have done that when I was 18 but being 18 dating a 17 year old is nothing…or dating a 16 year old is nothing…When I say nothing it’s basically not looked at as bad because the age difference is not that high at all…So I became aware of the laws just in case I came across a situation and just second guess what I should do if a 17 year old came to me…There are a lot of different situations that must be considered when talking about this so let me tackle a few of them

Let’s review situation number 1…I will use myself as the example because there is no need to use fake names and it will show how I feel about 17 year old girls…21 year old males should never be with a 17 year old in high school…I would most likely never go out looking for a 17 year old girl at a high school and be like “Shawy let’s get down.” I don’t care if she’s a dime, breasts out, ass out, or any other capturing qualities…It’s high school and I’m in college…there’s a big difference there…Maturity levels are not equal at all…If you are a 17 year old female reading this and thinking that you’re on my level, maturity wise, then you’re bugging…You could act grown and do all those things but trust me, and trust others, you are not on my level…Simple as that…Maybe there are some exceptions but I would still not fluz with you because that girl is in HIGH SCHOOL!!! This is where girls are still trying to figure themselves out…This is a time where puberty is at its highest, not able to engage in conversations, being awkward…All that is fine and allowable, but being a 21 year old, I just wouldn’t be able to mess with it..Simple as that…

Situation number 2 are the 17 year olds in college…These are the freshman girls…Some of them have turned 18, crossed the bridge into the “adult” world and are ready for war…But a majority of them are still 17 waiting for their birthdays to come across so that they can be deemed as an adult…Would I mess with a 17 year old freshman in college? Of course…why not…already have…hahahaha…Now you’re probably sitting here reading this shit like “How the fuck can the Goon mess with a 17 in college and not in high school?” Simple answer…we all cross that same bridge towards college life…everyone should be mature, everyone should be grown with their shit…Yall remember going to college and just forcing yourself to grow up because the scene has changed…No more mom and dad telling you when to shit and pee and eat…You take that role as a woman/man that is able to handle his or her own shit…Those are my expectations for these 17 year olds, whenever I meet them…But again don’t think I go out looking for 17 year olds…I don’t…But we all know that some of those freshies look fine, a dime here and there, and yall wouldn’t mind just messing around…Let’s keep it 100 people..And ladies, please don’t sit here and act like I’m a bum because when you were a freshman, yall probably let that senior hit it, kiss it, rub it, and smash it…hahaha…And as a matter of fact I remember seeing girls just flow right towards the older guys because that’s what always happened…I’m experiencing it now…But I’m not on some creepy shit with it...We chill in the room, drink, do whateva…

Situation 3 deals with those exceptions like the senior and freshman relationship that looks so sweet when we see it on facebook, myspace, or in person…I’m all for it…because there has to be something about that specific girl or guy that attracted the two together…Cupid works in mysterious ways so if HE wants to put those two together then that’s fine…Would I wife up a fresman girl now? Probably not because once again, we are in two different worlds…She’s coming in, I’m leaving…I’m looking for a job, she’s looking for courses…I’m hitting the clubs, she’s hitting that pajama party at her school…haha….I’m not shitting on these 17 year olds…I’m just saying we’re living two different worlds…

Situation 4 may sound a little creepy…After all that I said about 17 year olds, I wouldn’t really rule them out the picture…And the reason is because when I see older couples and realize that the age difference is high, then anything possible…That same 17 year old will probably be a dime 4 years later…Now she’s 21, she’s making a move to NY, and she hits the Goon up for some advice..I’m 25…That shit ain’t illegal, no one questions it…I’ll have my life set…We’re around the same stage in life again…WOW!! That advice could turn into a coffee date, then a party date, and then finally a smash date…hahaha…That’s not the route I take but you can understand what the deal is…4 years ago I was talking about how immature she was, wack, all this shit and now she’s lying in my bed right next to me watching Saturday morning cartoons…All guys do it, all girls do it…(Yo when she gets older she’s gonna be looking right!!/Look at him, so cute, once his head fits into his body and he gains as little weight then I’ll give him the cat) hahahaha….

So when I looked up these laws I went to this site http://www.livestrong.com/article/12483-age-consensual-sex/ South Carolina has an age of consent of 14…WOW!! That’s just too wild for me…ewwwwwwwwwww…I hope I don’t have any friends looking for members of that age group…Because at that point you’re just fucking crazy…Just go talk to old Big Sue down the block who has been eye fucking you every time you get the mail…But yea, those are the age of consents in different state…But please realize that a girl can yell rape any time she wants…Once she does that you’re assed out…I’m going to start carrying a recorder, contract, and pen because I’ll be damned if some girl screams rape like 10 years later after I done made it big, and I’m famous…So if I’ve done something with you in the past, don’t worry I got you when I make it famous…hahaha…But on the serious side, rape is not funny and I would not wish that on anyone…I teared up when the therapist from the Sopranos got raped on that staircase…Not cute at at all…
